Club Registration Guide
2026-2027 Academic Year
All student organizations must register annually in the spring semester, including new student organizations that registered in the fall semester. This process informs the Rice community that your group is still active and operating for the upcoming academic year.

Submission Deadline
This deadline is for submitting all required materials, but it does not guarantee approval by that date. Materials are reviewed in the order they are received, so we strongly recommend submitting as early as possible to secure a higher place in the review queue.

PLEASE NOTE:
- ALL GROUPS (new and existing) must register by Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM for the 2026-2027 cycle.
- If you would like to participate in the Fall Student Activities Fair, the deadline to submit your club annual's club registration and the fair sign-up form is Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM. This means that by participating in the fair, your club's registration deadline changes from Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM to Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM. If you are NOT planning on participating in the fair, the deadline to submit your club's annual registration is still Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
Student Organization Leader Orientation (SOLO)
- Who Should Complete SOLO
- The incoming Primary Student Leader (president, co-president, chair, etc.) should complete SOLO.
- If you anticipate a change in leadership mid-year, having more than one student leader complete SOLO is recommended.
- Timing
- This self-paced training should take approximately 1-2 hours to complete.
- Students should complete the SOLO training before submitting their OwlNest Registration Form.
- Enrollment
- Go to the Canvas Catalog homepage: catalog.rice.edu
- In the search bar at the top, type "student org leader orientation" and press Enter.
- Click on the course titled 2026-2027 Student Org Leader Orientation
- Click the Enroll button
- Log in using your NetID and password if prompted
- Once enrolled, you'll be able to access the training under your Canvas Dashboard or by going directly to canvas.rice.edu.
- Troubleshooting Tips for Canvas Registration
- If you're using Google Chrome and the course enrollment does not load, try clearing your cache and cookies from your browser and try again.
- You can also copy and paste the URL into another browser. For example, using Safari or Windows Explorer instead of Google Chrome.
- Make sure you are using the correct link:
- SOLO (Link will be available soon)
- Finance (Link will be available soon)
- And if all else fails, email studentactivities@rice.edu to ask for assistance and report the problem. We are continuing to work with OIT to fix problems as they arise. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these technical difficulties!
